As a child she was always surrounded by animals that she wanted to capture on paper. In high school she also did exam in this course. At that time there were even plans to go to the school of art, but it all turned out differently.

For years she had a printing company and that business did not leave her time to paint. After 10 years she decided to do something different with her life and decided to follow her true passions. She started breeding Arabian horses and she began to paint again.

When her work was noticed by horse magazine " de hoefslag" she was getting more and more commissions. Initially, she only made pastel drawings on paper. After another article about her work in the magazine " onze hond " she was ensured of a steady supply of new customers.

In 2007 ellen-marie moved to Spain and now lives on a farm with several horses, dogs and cats. Part of the farm is a bed and breakfast. The area gives a lot of inspiration to make new paintings Oil paint is still her favorite material but now she also paints on plates and panels of recycled wood. In addition to paint, she also uses other materials such as cotton, hair, foam, etc., with which she creates a 3D effect. Most of the works are made in a large size
